The Old Brewhouse Contd.

Started on some rough ideas for the logo design. They are looking for something with a natural, organic feel to it that is simple and eye catching. In one I've merged the 'S' and the 'H' from spa and hair into a plant like shape. The cone growing off the ligature of the 'S' is a hop cone to form a connection with the building and the natural products used within.

The Second idea is something simpler. They asked for an example that just used the letters TOB. Again Ive used the hop cone to form a connection.

They ended up going for the bottom idea with some modifications. below are the graphics as they would appear in print, as flat cut vinyls and as window frosting...

Cardinal Jack

For a single by a new band on the infuse label. Track is called 'Green Eyed Boy'... bit more concept driven than style driven. A cardinal is a leading dignitary of the Roman Catholic Church, so I've run the track name through the band name in a cross shape for a religious reference, and made the intersection run through the letter 'I' and turned it green. Jack being a boys name and the 'I' in green leaves us with a green eyed boy...

Flyers...

For a local signage and large format print company. A5 double sided full colour. The logo is the one they've used for quite a few years. I've tweaked it a little bit to give it a slightly more modern feel but I'm still not a massive fan of it. Some rubbish iphone photo's attached.

The Old Brewhouse

Logo and signage job for a hair salon and spa opening in September. The client wanted a logo which worked within the narrow confines of the existing sign boards and had neither an overly feminine or masculine feel to it. Icon, window graphics and swing sign to follow...

The Dehavilland Philharmonic Orchestra...

Live brief for uni aimed at trying to get more students to attend classical music gigs. I looked at challenging peoples perceptions of classical music. CLICK IMAGES TO VIEW LARGE.

This one looks at people saying they don't like it when actually they've never been to a classical music concert and given it a chance. I've tried to be playful with the type to engage the viewer, giving only subtle visual references to music. I wanted to avoid images of classical music composers/instruments/conductors etc as I felt this is an instant turn off for a student audience.

The second one looks at peoples view that classical music is just for posh people.

And the third one looks at the drawing similarities between modern and classical music. Ive set the type in the fonts used by more contemporary musicians. The bands used were Guns n' Roses, Oasis, Megadeath, Iron Maiden & The Beastie Boys.

Entrepreneurs Challenge...

...Is a pretty weird uni project were doing at the moment. We got put in groups of total strangers from various different courses and have 3.5 days to come up with a business plan for an innovative business in a field chosen by the mentors. We got fashion and decided to offer a platform whereby small businesses and designers from developing countries could get there products out into the western fashion market. I was in charge of the website.

Website...

A website focussing on graffiti and the law. Pretty simple stuff with a few slideshows and embedded videos but reasonably happy for a first attempt. Designed and coded in 24 extremely long hours with the help of Joey. Nice one for your help mate. Much appreciated.

jam jar flyer

Got given this flyer to do at uni as a last minute thing. Only really had a few hours to do it in the middle of trying to put together a website and get the degree show project finished. Its for an up and coming bands and DJs night so decided to put together some photomontages of 'anonymous' band members and use them to illustrate the flyer.

Degree Show Branding.

The brief for this was to come up with a concept to advertise all of the degrees exhibiting at the UH 2011 Degree Show. After some thinking I realised one thing linking all of the degrees together was the fact they were all bachelors degrees and that all of the students were seeking the attention of employers. So I decided to play on the idea of eligible bachelors and set out my branding in the for of a contact ad/dating service...

The envelope is the first thing anyone will see so have kept this pretty minimal so as not to give the game away too early...

The poster forms the contact ad with common abbreviations altered slightly to give more emphasis on the courses being exhibited. A glossary of these altered terms is listed at the bottom

The invite forms the next step in the 'dating process', where the recipient is pin pointed as a potential match for the eligible bachelors. The flip side holds a questionnaire whereby employers are able to mark their interest in specific students. This also helps the university gain an idea of which courses are drawing the biggest crowds/number of visitors from within specific industries.

And the signage would follow the whole theme through further.
